Hear first-hand from some MBS students on what studying here is like!
Mr Billy S. Brown, Liberia (Upgrading student)
My first four years of study at MBS had been a very interesting and valuable experience. The lessons learnt in the course of these years gave me a good grounding in the basics. And I liked how it enabled me to interact with books and minds of many scholars. I wouldn’t say the entire program was an easy endeavor, however, I found the courses interesting, challenging, and rewarding. The assignments are really good as it help students to think out-of-the box and write.
It has been a truly invaluable learning experience for me. Furthermore, the constructive inputs and guidance of lecturers throughout each lesson of the course is one in which one gives applause. They’ve helped me to understand where my strengths and weaknesses lie, and what areas I need to pay attention to.
Moreover, being able to apply myself to distance education for the right interpretation of the Word of truth (Scripture) has been invaluable as well. Living in an underdeveloped country has a number of disadvantages. Although there are many seminaries in Liberia, yet the lack of access to continuing education (whether theological or secular degrees) is one of great importance. Successfully completing the Bachelor of Ministry program at MBS has enabled me to think ahead and motivated me to consider continuing with MBS for the graduate program. And as God would have it, I am now enrolled as a master student at MBS, which I believe will be of great benefit not only for me but the church in Liberia and beyond. That is to say, it is not just about getting a degree but the faithful teaching of God’s decrees. And I hope to again gain lot of insights through this program.
Overall, there are many areas where studying at MBS will turn out to be invaluable, almost everything is covered to allow you to become an asset to your local Church. All glory to Jesus!
Pastor Aaron Tham, Malaysia, Master of Divinity student
I am pursuing part-time study for a M. Div. and I chose MBS for location and accessibility to my home and church office. The seminary makes every effort to bring us the best teachers for each topic and subject. The teachers bring along with them their class and field experience, which adds to the value of their lessons. Interaction with other students and the lecturers has helped me a great deal in terms of enhancing my pastoral ministry. I learn from the experiences of others, and their situations help me in my ministry and personal growth.
I’m a pastor at a local church and the knowledge I’m gaining from seminary deepens my understanding and knowledge of His word. With the reading lists, I am able to update myself on what is current and relevant. At the same time, it is a wonderful opportunity to interact with ministers of other churches as we study together.
