Course Description
This course covers the basic categories of phonology, morphology and syntax of elementary Old Testament Hebrew. It is part one of two semesters of elementary Biblical Hebrew. The lectures in class will follow the sequence of contents in the required textbook.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students should acquire the following skills:
- Master the Hebrew alphabet and how to write them
- Able to grasp the nuances of Hebrew vowels
- Identify parts of speech in Hebrew (parsing)
- Understand basic Hebrew grammar
- Translate simple Hebrew sentences
- Master the vocabulary and its meaning
