The Master of Christian Studies (M. C.S.) is a two-year, full-time programme, comprising 60 credit hours. Students may opt to complete the programme on a part-time basis within 3 years.
The M. C.S. equips you with a deeper understanding of Scripture, theology, and ministry skills to serve God and your community more effectively. Subjects covered under M.C.S. are as follows:
- Old Testament Introduction 1 & 2
- New Testament Introduction 1 & 2
- OT Book Study 1: Pentateuch / Historical Book
- NT Book Study 1: Gospels
- NT Book Study 2: Pauline Epistles
- Theology 1 & 2
- Theology of Mission / Contextualized Theology
- Christian Education
- Church History 1 or 2
- Hermeneutics
- Homiletics
- Marriage & Family
- Research and Writing
- Spiritual Formation
- 3 Electives
Students who have demonstrated competence in academic writing in the Turabian / Chicago style format can request a waiver of Research & Writing Course but it must be replaced with another course or elective.
As part of the programme, students must complete an internship that includes weekend ministry at an assigned church throughout the duration of their studies.
A minimum GPA of 3 or B is required for graduation. This score would also qualify students to proceed to the M. Div. programme.
