MBS seeks to be a Christ-centered learning community where men and women will be equipped to be a strong impact on the Church and the world. We appreciate that applicants will come from diverse backgrounds and academic levels. All applicants must be born-again Christians, baptized for at least 1 year and have a definite call to ministry. They must also have the recommendation and support of their local church.
All candidates to MBS should also satisfy the following criteria:
- Be a committed Christian, with a clear calling to ministry
- Be in good standing with a local church
- Be at least 20 years of age at the time of entry
- Preferably, have at least 2-years or working experience
Students are admitted to MBS under one of the following categories:
1) Full-time Program
Program students, whether full-time or part-time, refer to those who are pursuing a formal qualification a certificate, undergraduate or graduate qualification at MBS.

Minimum requirement: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM or British O-Levels) or its equivalent.
Diploma in Theology
Minimum requirement: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM or British O-Levels) or its equivalent.
Bachelor of Theology
Minimum requirement: Grade 2 in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM or British O-Levels) or its equivalent. Students must obtain no less than a B- average in their first 3 years of studies in order to continue in the fourth and final year.
Graduate
A first degree, on an equivalent.
Transfer of credits (or units) from other institutions is possible and will be considered on a case-by-case basis as long as the transfer does not exceed 50% of the number of credits required to fulfill a course at MBS.
All full-time programme students, except under special circumstances, are expected to be residential.
2) Part-time Programme
All MBS programmes can studied on a part-time basis.
Christian workers and church leaders who are unable to study at MBS on a full-time basis may be accepted as part-time students.
As part-timers, students may take up to 3 years to complete the Certificate of Theology (Cert. Th.) 4 years for the Diploma in Theology (Dip. Th.) or 5 years for the Bachelor of Theology (B. Th.).
The Master of Christian Studies (M.C.S.) and the Master of Divinity (M. Div) can be extended for an additional 2 to 3 years.
The Master of Ministry (M. Min) is strictly a part-time, non-residential degree.
3) Non-Programme
This category is open to pastors, full-time workers and other committed Christians (who are on sabbatical leave). These individuals may be accepted for a limited duration only to study the courses, either to obtain credits or on audit-basis.
Acceptance of Non-Programme students are subject to the usual qualification requirements and normal application process. Additionally, they are required to submit a written statement to the Dean to indicate their needs and reasons for applying under this category. Acceptance of Non-Programme students is at the discretion of the Dean and the Selection Committee.
4) Audit
Individuals who wants to enrich their knowledge and understanding of various subjects without earning credits may opt to apply as audit students for selected courses. This would be ideal for working laypeople or ministry workers, or spouses of full-time students who want to share in the learning experience and community life at MBS.
Audit students are subject to relevant Student Rules and Regulations, which may include participation of on-campus duties.
5) Transfer of Credits
If you have done academic work at an accredited theological college elsewhere, you may be granted credit transfers, subject to the discretion of the Dean. Additional work may be required if the prior work do not meet MBS’ academic standards.
